Making the video

Our main focus of today was to shoot the footage for the one minute video that we have to present at the end of tomorrow. Below, we'll discuss what we've done and how we achieved our results.

Yesterday, we already made a movie script. This was a great addition as it allowed us to start quickly today. We wanted a couple of interesting transitions, so we recorded them, quickly tried them out in the video editor and then figured out whether it was useful or not. This process was quick and easy and allowed us to "prototype" the movie.

We recorded a bunch of different types of movie, both stop-motion and real-time about the problem, our design process and our solution. Below, you can peek a bit behind the scenes on how the stop-motion was done:

Finally, we also finished our lamp prototype. We had the following results with it:

The lamp made a significant improvement, however, because there are three smaller lamps inside, the shadow of the pattern projects three times at slightly different locations and angles. To solve this, we moved the pattern further away from the lamp to get the patterns to overlap better and better. The final result is as follows:

We didn't get a perfect result, but we got very close and this prototype shows that it's possible to project a pattern with a lamp after some additional research has been conducted.

Tomorrow, we'll finish up the poster and get ready for our presentation!
