Our first team day + Selfie

Our project took off today. Below, we'll explain what our project is about and what we have done throughout the first day in general.

After the introduction, we quickly introduced ourselves to each other. It seems like we're missing one team member, but perhaps he'll join later this week. Either way; We're already getting things started.

Our design goal is to create a "blind spot spotter". Blind spots are a big problem for trucks and current solutions solely exist to inform the driver. The goal of this design is to create a unique solution which will inform the cyclists and/or pedestrians whether they are in the blind spot. This puts the focus on the cyclists and pedestrians, rather than on the driver itself.

This design problem will be quite the challenge, so we've set out to maximize our time in order to ensure that we bring forward three valid concepts by the end of Friday.

We did a little brainstorm and settled on four main problems that we'd like to address:
  1. Communicate information to the biker
  2. Communicate information to the driver
  3. Possible methods of warning "levels"
  4. Communication with blind/deaf/disabled people
These are the problems we'll be focussing on tomorrow in order to find several applicable solutions.

And of course, we also made our mandatory team selfie:
